Talent can be hard to swallow

Maintaining a sense of olden-day carnival sideshow mystique is important to sword-swallower Chris Steele. "As a young kid at fairs, I saw what was possible. I wanted to be a sword swallower," Steele said. Steele, who is based out of Atlanta, performed at Ripley's Believe It or Not in Gatlinburg on National Sword Swallowing Day - Feb. 27. "It's very exciting to be at Ripley's. It's important for us to go there to show people what's possible. They've probably never seen sword swallowing before. Plus, we're raising funds for the Injured Sword-Swallowers Fund," Steele said. Yes, that's right ... the Injured Sword-Swallowers Fund. During the six years it took Steele to perfect the art of sword-swallowing, he did suffer small injuries. But he persevered.
Parkside Grill -
home of the incredible Meatloaf Stack

Do you have restaurants that you drive past day after day that you don't even notice any more because they have become part of your environment? That's what Parkside Grill on North Peters Road had become for me. But on Feb. 25, an aroma of steaks on the grill captivated my attention. I immediately knew where I had to have dinner that night. I went home, collected my husband and headed out to fulfill my nose's desires for grilled food. When we walked into Parkside Grill, I wondered why we had stayed away for so long. Why did its exterior become commonplace in my mind? Seriously, it's a mystery.
