Haslam ahead in fundraising

KNOXVILLE — Last week The Bill Haslam gubernatorial campaign announced that Mayor Haslam set fundraising records with a total of $5,737,583.46, raised from more than 7,300 contributions during the first year of his campaign. This total is $1 million and 1,300 contributions more than any previous statewide Tennessee campaign at this point.

Haslam’s fundraising success is directly related to his hard work on the trail and supporters’ enthusiasm for his message.

His fundraising total reflects that effort with 7,344 total contributions, building upon his previous record-breaking campaign finance report announced last summer.

“The support Crissy and I receive on the campaign trail is humbling,” said Haslam. “Our message of growing and retaining jobs, conservative budget management and putting education on the right track is connecting in all corners of the state, and we won’t stop now.”

“We’ll continue to bring Tennesseans that message county by county, door by door,” Haslam said.

Haslam has traveled more than 50,000 miles back and forth across the state, knocking on doors and visiting all 95 counties on the campaign trail.

“We’re more than a year into our fundraising effort, and our donors remain invigorated by Bill and his ability and his passion for strengthening the state of Tennessee,” said Kim Kaegi, Finance Director for the Haslam campaign. “We’re approximately $1 million ahead of any previous statewide efforts at this point in the campaign, comparatively.

“In addition, we’ve received 7,344 total contributions, which surpasses previous records by 1,300.  It also is worth pointing out that there are no loans from the candidate reflected in our total fundraising numbers,” Kaegi continued.

Bill Haslam is the two term Mayor of Knoxville, re-elected in 2007 with 87 percent of the vote. A hardworking public servant, he led Knoxville to become one of the top ten metropolitan areas for business and expansion, while reducing the city’s debt, tripling the rainy day fund, and bringing property taxes to the lowest rate in 40 years. An executive leader with a proven record of success, he helped grow his family’s small business from 800 employees into one of Tennessee’s largest companies with more than 14,000 employees.

Bill and Crissy Haslam have two daughters, Annie and Leigh, and a son, Will, who resides in Knoxville with his wife, Hannah. For more information on Bill Haslam, please visit www.BillHaslam.com.
