Bank robber still on loose

By Jeremy Z. Young

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office, along with FBI agents, are still searching for a man who robbed a West Knoxville bank May 2.

KCSO officials released a series of surveillance photos May 5. The photos show the man with his face wrapped in a scarf.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, a white male entered the BB&T Bank at 11140 Kingston Pike around 3:30 that afternoon, wearing a gray nylon athletic suit with the hood up and a black scarf wrapped around his head.

The robber hopped over the service door and cleaned out the cash drawers, putting the money in a dark bag. The perpetrator allegedly mumbled that he wouldn’t hurt anyone, that he was just there for the money.

Witnesses say the man didn’t show a weapon of any kind during the robbery.

The robber is described as a white male in his mid to late twenties, between 5’8” and 5’10” with a thin build.
The robber left in a four-door, late-model 90s car with a circular dealership tag on the trunk.

Anyone with any information about the robbery or the suspect should contact the FBI or call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at (865) 215-2243.

If you spot the suspect, do not approach him because he could be armed. Contact local law enforcement immediately.
