Knoxville Police Officers responded to a shooting call and a stabbing call that happened within minutes of each other during the early morning hours of May 6.
Officers first responded to 1931 Wilkins St. where a man had been shot.
Victim, 35 year-old Charles Buley, was at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported for medical treatment.
The suspect, Frederick Elder, 36, was still at the scene when officers arrived. He was attempting to flee in a Jeep Cherokee.
According to KPD Public Information Officer Darrell DeBusk, Elder threw three baggies out the window into a grassy area near the scene. Two of those baggies are believed to contain crack cocaine, while the other contained unidentified pills.
In the Jeep, officers located another bag believed to be crack cocaine, as well as a .40 caliber handgun.
Elder was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder and possession of a schedule II controlled substance for resale.
DeBusk said the investigation into this shooting continues as officers try to piece together what caused the altercation.
Roughly 8 minutes after receiving the shooting call, a call came in that a teen had been stabbed at 2302 Scofield St.
According to officers, there is no known connection between the two events.
Thirteen year-old Josef Andres remained at the University of Tennessee Medical Center May 6 after being stabbed.
After talking with witnesses, investigators determined that Andres was approached by two hispanic males and a fight ensued.
A witness said that one of the men pulled a knife and stabbed Andres. The two men had come to the scene and left the scene in a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Investigators believe that one of the suspects may have been Alex Alejandro. Alejandro is about 20 years-old, 5’6” and 110 pounds. He has short black hair and a small build.
The other suspect has yet to be identified. He is also about 20 years-old, 6’ tall and weighs roughly 300 pounds.
DeBusk said the stabbing occurred “in retaliation for an earlier fight concerning a female.”
Anyone with information about either of these incidents is urged to contact the Knoxville Police Department at 215-7000.
