A joint-investigation among federal and local law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of a fugitive accused of murder in Texas.

The Safe Streets Task Force, made up of agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Police Department, came together with the Clinton Police Department to investigate the whereabouts of Jaime Martinez-Sanchez. The investigation culminated with his arrest in Knox County July 11.

According to reports in the Houston Chronicle, Martinez-Sanchez, a Mexican national, is suspected of slaying his Pasadena, TX roommate May 9. The two were last seen together on May 7.

Since Pasadena Police found a man dead in an apartment he shared with the suspect, Martinez-Sanchez disappeared.
“A warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was obtained by the FBI June 10,” KCSO spokesperson Martha Dooley said. “Sanchez is being held in the Knox County Jail pending extradition to Texas.”

According to the Chronicle, Martinez-Sanchez, of Daudales Malpaso, Chiapas Mexico, is known to work as a day laborer.

Authorities know that in that state, he has used at least five variations of his name as aliases, including Jimmie Martinez-Sanchez, Jymmy Sanchez and Jaime Sanchez-Martinez.
