Central captures
“Big Man” title

By Dave Ford

The quarterback and receivers can’t have all the fun, at least that was the thought process behind the genesis of the Big Man Tournament of Champions. On July 12 at Powell High School, the 3rd Annual BMTOC manifested some of the event’s best action to date. In fact, a mere two points decided the winner. Central High edged out two-time defending champion Bearden with a total of 55 points.

Big league softball

TNT Classic draws
packed field

By Dave Fod

It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. The overused cliche’ couldn’t have been a better fit if it had been planned for the father-son winner of the 6th Annual Tuesday Night Thunder Classic. Considering the pair finished in the top five of the weekly tournament just once in 2008 (third place on July 1), it was an upset of sorts.

Fish and Hunting Report

Monday evening when I got home I was met on the porch by my 18-year-old son. His first words were Dad can we go out fishing for a while after dinner. I try to never turn down an invitation to fish so we hastily ate dinner and then hooked the boat up.

Magical night at Fenway Park adds to “The Reel”

For almost 10 years now, I’ve been thinking about “The Reel”. I’m talking about the rolling collection of highlights from places you’ve been, people you’ve seen, etc. When you think of good times, “The Reel” is what provides your scenery.
